Dear friends and supporters of Malaika,
It is a pleasure to find you here after so many months, because of the pandemic it has not been particularly easy. Luckily none of us got sick, neither the kids nor staff working in Malaika, but the economic situation of the country has suffered a great deal from the forced isolation that has paralyzed the whole world.
Our volunteers were not able to fly to Tanzania and not until October Francesco, the other Director of Malaika, was able to finally return to Malaika to see the kids and take care of all the organizational and administrative tasks.
It was a great joy for the little ones and for the big ones to see him again after a long time! Meanwhile, as time passes, the youngsters have grown up fast and the teenagers are almost adults. All the children who have reached the age 18 stay with us at Malaika because they would like to continue to study. Their great marks show they're fully committed to their studies.
This can only happen thanks to your continued help and support, which allows us to help all the children arriving at Malaika to become educated and independent adults.

These days the house is strangely quiet in the morning now that the little ones have started kindergarten. They return very tired but are still full of energy to play, after a good lunch and a short nap.
In the evening the children that go to primary school arrive, while at home during the day there is only little Nancy in her wheelchair, who is happy when her brothers and sisters return home. They are always smiling with their love for her.
The big kids return home in November, at the end of the school year, and finally the house will be full of joy and voices.
SCHOOL PROJECT |
This year we have a new student who finished primary school and next year he will start high school: congratulations Baraka!
The group of primary school students attend the same school together, leaving at sunrise and returning almost at sunset each day. They are all very happy and close to each other even if they attend different classes.
The seven "big" kids are divided into different high school according to their interests and meet at home only during the holidays. When Francesco went to visit them it was a great and beautiful surprise, because they did not expect to see him!
BACK TO FAMILY PROJECT |
As you will recall, some of the children and teenagers who lived in Malaika had the opportunity to return to their families but we continue to help these families with school and health expenses, thanks to the help of our supporters.
We visit them regularly at home and also at school, to make sure that everything is okay and nothing is lacking. Often going to visit them is also an opportunity for the other children to connect again and nurture the relationships that they have built.
